How long does it take to walk through the Cave of the Mounds?

It takes about 45 minutes to an hour to walk through the caves. Wear comfortable shoes and bring a sweater or light jacket. The caves are well lit but if your little one is afraid of the dark they may appreciate having a flashlight with them.
Are there bats in Cave of the Mounds?
YES! However, it’s not a good habitat for the usual cave dwellers like bats, spiders, bears, bugs, or worms. Instead, we have springtails. They are tiny hexapods, smaller than an insect, that eats the bacteria in the still ponds of water we have.

Accessibility. The Cave is not wheelchair, walker or stroller accessible, however, most above ground activities are. We also have an accessible stall in each restroom.

Is Cave of the Mounds worth visiting?
Very nice, worthwhile visit for the entire family! We spent around 3 hours there, in the cave, gift shop and had a little pic-nic on the grounds afterward.
