Can you tap on Manchester buses?
You must use the same card or device to touch-in and touch-out, so all journeys are completed and we can apply the daily cap. Take care to only touch once, with one payment card or device, on the smart reader to avoid being charged more than once or on a card/device you didn’t intend to use.
Can you use Apple Pay on Manchester buses?
To use contactless, simply request the ticket, present the contactless card or mobile and then receive a receipt along with a ticket for the journey. Payment cards displaying the contactless logo from Visa, Mastercard or Maestro can be used. Apple Pay, Android Pay, Samsung Pay and bPay are also accepted.

What happens if you don’t tap in with contactless?
If you forget to tap in or out with your contactless card you’ll get the same maximum fare as you would with Oyster.
Can you pay with phone on bus?
Look for the contactless symbol on your credit or debit card to see if your card is contactless enabled. Then, board a bus with the contactless symbol and instead of paying with cash, simply tap your card or contactless-enabled device onto the reader and wait for the beep.
Why is my contactless card not working on the bus?
This may be because your bank account doesn’t have enough money to pay for your journey. If this happens you’ll need to get your card reauthorised. You can do this in two ways: Contact your card issuer.

Where can I use my bus pass on a train in Manchester?
Your pass also entitles you to add tram and train to your pass, for an annual charge. This gives you unlimited off-peak travel on Metrolink and trains within Greater Manchester. You can then travel on Metrolink trams and trains after 9.30am on Monday to Friday, and all day on weekends and public holidays.

Is it cheaper to use Oyster or contactless?
There is a very small financial advantage to using a contactless card if you’re in London for more than a week and travel extensively every single day (weekly capping) but otherwise it’s no cheaper than using an Oyster.
Why did TfL charge me 10p?
When you make journeys with Transport for London, you will be initially charged a 10p authorisation on your card. This is because the total amount owed for your travel is unknown at that moment.
