Camera Obscura & World of Illusions is a tourist attraction located in Outlook Tower on the Castlehill section of the Royal Mile close to Edinburgh Castle. The original attraction was founded by entrepreneur Maria Theresa Short in 1835 and was exhibited on Calton Hill.
How does the Edinburgh Camera Obscura work?
These lenses focus the light onto a white wooden table, projecting an image of the view outside. The mirror tilts and rotates allowing us to see a 360-degree view of Edinburgh and the lenses allow us to see the image the right way up.

Why is camera obscura image upside down?
The light passing through the small hole will project an image of a scene outside the box onto the surface opposite to the hole. Since light moves in a straight line through the hole, the projected image will appear to be flipped upside-down and inverted.
