Why are places called Five Points?
The Five Points neighborhood got its name in 1881 on account of the five-way intersection of Welton Street, Washington Street, Twenty-Seventh Street, and East Twenty-Sixth Avenue. Streetcar signs could not fit all the street names so they just called it “Five Points.”
