Guests are welcome to bring their own single-person food, in small containers, into our parks. No coolers, glass containers, alcohol, party trays, birthday cakes, or decorations are allowed on grounds, and no facilities are available for food storage.
Can I bring in bottled water to San Diego Zoo?
You are welcome to bring your own food or picnic with you. This includes water and beverages, but only non-alcoholic ones. Any drinks must be in non-glass containers, and it is worth mentioning that disposable straws and lids are not permitted.
What can I not bring to the zoo?
Due to space limitations, we cannot store the personal property of guests during their Zoo visit.
That includes:

Are backpacks allowed at San Diego Zoo?
Guests may carry small backpacks and bags into our parks. Can the Zoo/Safari Park store my luggage? The San Diego Zoo can store luggage for a fee. Small items are $5 per piece; large items are $15 per piece.
Can I bring my own food to San Diego Zoo?
Guests may bring personal food items into the Zoo. Large food storage containers such as coolers are not permitted on grounds, and no facilities are available for food storage. Zoo guests who have already entered our parks may get their hand stamped for re-entry on the same day of their visit during operating hours.

Are backpacks allowed at the National Zoo?
Controlled access means the Zoo will conduct checks of bags, backpacks, personal items and strollers, as well as restrict the number of people entering the Zoo. These measures, which may vary by day and event, are similar to those procedures used by Smithsonian museums.
Does the San Diego Zoo check bags?
You can take your luggage or travel bags into the San Diego Zoo. But you’ll have to store them. You can’t drag them around with you while you visit the animals. Luggage/large-item storage is available at Front Street Rentals.
